FireFox/Mozilla are optional browsers that exceed AOL and IE capabilities. AOL and IE ignore Web Standards, often, displaying incorrect code. Also, FireFox/Mozilla are grand because they are not susceptible to countless virus, worm, and trojan horrors.
If you are not familiar with a fanlisting than let me explain: a fanlisting is a list of fans from around the world of a particular person, movie, song, thing, or idea.
Released in 1998, Mozilla is Internet browsing software that includes Navigator (browsing), Mail And Newsgroups (sending/receiving mail/newsgroups), and Composer (webpage design). Also, integrated in Mail And Newsgroups is an Address Book. Originally, Mozilla was the title set to protect Netscape Navigator, the then upcoming release that was slated to follow Netscape, from competitors. Evidently, the title and dinosaur mascot stuck!
Mozilla is open source software; therefore, few people select it as the target for virus, worm, and trojan activity because the majority direct their anger towards Microsoft's Internet Explorer - proprietary software. Open source is defined by Open Source Initiative as follows:
Open source promotes software reliability and quality by supporting independent peer review and rapid evolution of source code. To be OSI certified, the software must be distributed under a license that guarantees the right to read, redistribute, modify, and use the software freely.
Largely, open source enables software developers to, within a community, document and fix bugs prior to exposure, as well as, allowing the user to freely redistribute the product.
Mozilla is completely free to download off The Mozilla Organization.
